Emma Mackem has been the proprietor of Apogee Beauty Salon in Armagh for 12 years and recently decided to promote her business online to attract a wider range of new clients, however she was unsure how to do this. Emma met with a Logon.ni adviser who explained a variety of options to consider including, creating a website to contain full details about the products and services the business offers, create an online map listing with contact details and directions to the salon, registering the salon with online business directories and creating social media listings to help promote the business to new potential clients.
After considering the information provided by the Logon.ni adviser, Emma was keen to create a website for her business. The adviser explained that Emma could use a website design company to build a website for her or use one of the many self-build website packages that are now available. The adviser provided Emma with the benefits and features of each option and showed examples of websites for similar businesses. Following this, Emma was keen to learn more about the self build option and received a demonstration of how to create a website with the package she chose to use.
The Logon.ni adviser demonstrated to Emma how to create a web page, how to add text and images, format the layout of the page, insert a company logo, add contact details and a location map. Emma was then left to compile the website by herself, but with the knowledge that Logon.ni was on hand to help if needed. In subsequent meetings with Logon.ni, Emma received information on how to purchase and register a domain name for the website, how to optimise the website to ensure it can easily be found by search engines and received more information on using other marketing tools to help drive traffic to the website such as online map listings, business directory listings and social media marketing.
