Deliverence provides expectant and new mothers both practical and emotional support during pregnancy, labour, childbirth and after the birth of a baby. Owner June Donaldson met with Logon.ni and received advice and instruction in accessing software programmes and building her own website.
June wanted to install a software package such as Microsoft Office onto her laptop for business use butwas consious of the cost. As an alternative Logon.ni suggested using a free office software package such as OpenOffice. The advisor explained that OpenOffice is an ideal replacement for Microsoft Office as it is free, open source, compatible with MS Office and can be downloaded from the OpenOffice website. With assistance from Logon.ni, June was able to download and install OpenOffice on her business laptop enabling her to work on documents, spreadsheets and presentations all at no cost.
June also wanted help building a website and host it on her domain name which she had already purchased. She wanted to build her own site to save money and have full control of her website content. Logon.ni demonstrated a variety of self build website options which all suited the business needs in terms of low costs and easy to update websites. June was keen on Microsoft Office Live for its ease of use.
June received information on how to build her site using Microsoft Office Live on her laptop. This included instruction on changing themes, changing styles, how to edit text and fonts, how to upload pictures, how to customise the website colour scheme, create galleries, add maps, create, edit and delete pages and add a 'subscribe to newsletter' box. June was then advised on how to upload the website to her current domain via her online hosting package, and add her details to a number of free online business directories to promote the website.
