With over twenty five years of experience Oliver Tyre Services Ltd is a well established tyre sales and car maintenance business in Limavady. The company uses their broadband internet connection daily but felt there was more office administration that could be done online.
During initial discussions, the Logon.ni adviser noted that the company was not yet registered to submit and pay their VAT returns online. The adviser informed the company of new legislation which came into force from 1st April 2010 making it mandatory for all VAT-registered traders with a turnover of £100,000 or more, plus any newly registered traders (regardless of turnover), to submit returns online and pay electronically.
Logon.ni initially assisted the company to register with HMRC to access online services. Then Oliver Tyre Services Ltd received instruction on how to complete and submit a VAT return online. The requirement to make payment electronically also was an issue as the company did not have a Business Internet Banking account with their bank. Logon.ni suggested that as well as being able to pay their VAT online, internet banking had many other benefits including saving time, the ability to easily transfer funds between accounts, check the account for payments received and reduce bank charges. The Logon.ni adviser helped the company to register for a Business Internet Banking account and then provided guidance on how to use the internet to transfer funds, make payments and check the account for payments received.
The result of the meeting with Logon.ni was that Oliver Tyre Services Ltd are now registered with HMRC to submit their VAT returns electronically, and they are using their bank’s Internet banking facility to control the company finances.
