Fermanagh based company Steel Fab Construction launched their company website during the summer of 2010, however they felt their website wasn't doing as well as it should.
Logon.ni visited the site and viewed the source file; we discovered that there were no keywords or meta data in the relevant sections of the website. This lack of key information is similar to building a shop and not putting any sign posts up to show where it can be found. Keywords and meta information in your website help people find your site and your products, without them no one can find you. It's a common problem, and is easily rectified. Logon.ni explained the importance of having good keywords and meta data; and explained that this lack of keywords was the most likely reason they were not receiving the kind of enquiries they were expecting.
Another phrase often used to describe 'keywords' or 'key phrases' is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). We explained exactly what Search Engines look for in a website and we provided Steel Fab with illustrations on good keywords and meta data usage. Steel Fab uses a Content Management System (CMS) to make changes to their site; this is a name for an easy to use website editor. Rather than learn how to write web code, you simply type your changes into the site via the CMS. Using a CMS is a wonderful way of updating your site and having control of your own site content. It saves having to call a web designer every time you need a change to your site. Once instructed on web site optimisation and keywords Steel Fab were able to input the new changes. Now potential customers searching for Steel Fabs products and services will be able to find them more easily.
In order to boost Fab Steels exposure to the market even further we suggested it would be a great idea to add the company details to free on line business directories and also create a Google Map listing. This has the benefit of generating free advertising for the company and creates links to the company website. It even gives a map showing your location which is linked into GPS. Logon.ni demonstrated to Steel Fab Construction how to add their details to one directory website and encouraged them to register with a number of other directory websites.
Following the meeting Steel Fab Construction commented: ‘We are very happy with the service provided by Logon.ni today. The adviser explained everything very well and we have learned quite a bit about search engines, websites etc. The adviser was very helpful in providing information with regard to site optimisation which wasn’t really working for us, so with her help we can be found easier by people searching for our products and services. A great service provided by Logon.ni.’
